Young children often wonder about God and it can be difficult to converse with them without leaving some erroneous conclusions in their minds. For example, an old man with a flowing beard sitting on a cloud with a remote control.
God's Paintbrush helps the conversation by suggesting ways in which God is present in the world and then asking questions that help the reader/listener contemplate the relationship between God and man. (Questions can be easily skipped for the younger listener.)
The pace of the verse leads one to contemplate each page rather than race to the end of the book. The vivid watercolor-styled illustrations appropriately attract the eye and visualize feelings. This book is also suitable for all faiths, so it's ideal for homes where the parents have different traditions.
For parents or educators who want to use this book as a teaching tool there is a separate guide for furthering the conversation in either the Jewish or Christian perspectives. With plenty of activities, the guide can be used over a number of sessions.
This book makes a great gift for the young family, preschool and church library.
